Engineers, Detroit, Conveyors, Steel Fabricators, Power Machinery, Speed Reducers" The Palmer Bee Company was a conveyor equipment manufacturer based in Detroit. They were one of the many companies that made parts and equipment funded by the federal government during World War II. The sculpture process used begins with a blank base of wood or plaster and then letters and other motifs are adhered to the surface. The gear-like design would have been sculpted using oil-based clay directly to the surface. This model was used to create the mold for casting. See the model of Urban Hansen for this technique. It was cast circa 1946.
